ApproachAfter the removal of the USTs, the RemRx® technical consulting team utilized the proprietary Sureclean™ remediation software to define a site treatment plan. In situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) using RemRx® CRP was chosen as the amendment. An excavation perimeter was defined based on a migrating and enlarging plume and an excavation depth of 10 feet in a contained area of 20 feet x 20 feet allowing the amendments to be emplaced interfacing the surficial aquifer. Site SpecificAccounting for natural oxidant demands, the dosage application of 712 lbs of RemRx® CRP was added as an in situ monolayer. The CRP site specific formulation consisted of a blended 3:4 ratio of both fast release and slow release CRP. An iron based FeEDTA liquid activator was applied post mixing and prior to the excavation backfilling.

Bench scale testing (Figure 2) demonstrated the effective treatment of similar contaminated soil types. The treatment plan was designed to optimize costs for both the funding partner, sub-contractors work on site (12 hours) and the supervising Environmental Engineering professionals.
